Simple Syrup Flapjack
Yummy golden syrup flapjacks are easier than you think. No matter your baking experience, this four ingredient, easy to follow recipe will get you serving up mouth-watering flapjacks in no time. The hardest part is not eating the mix while you are making!

Ingredients
- 225g butter
- 150g light brown sugar
- 150g golden syrup
- 425g porridge oats
- (optional - pinch of cinnamon)
For the drizzle:
- 110g melted milk chocolate
Equipment
- 20 x 20cm baking tray
- Baking parchment
- Large mixing bowls
- Large pan
- Stirring spoon
Method
- Preheat your oven to 180°C and line a 20 x 20cm baking tray (use butter or parchment paper).
- Melt the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a pan on a low heat.
- Once the sugar has fully dissolved, remove from the heat and fold in the oats. You can add to the depth of flavour by pinching in a little cinnamon.
- Stir until the oats are fully coated.
- Place the mixture in the lined baking tray, making sure you get into the corners, and press down with a spoon.
- Place in the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let the flapjacks cool completely and remove from the baking tray.
- Melt the chocolate in a bowl over boiling water and drizzle.
- Cut into pieces and serve.
Chef’s note:
- You'll know when your flapjacks are ready as the outer edges will start to turn brown but the inner will be soft and have a slight wobble like a firm jelly.
